Leafhoppers are wildly attracted to the color yellow. Hopperfinder, placed in or around vineyards,
attract leafhoppers from approximately 12 feet away. It is coated on both sides with a
non-drying, water resistant adhesive to hold pests until they die. |
Leafhopper... a problem
Leafhoppers
cause excessive damage to the vine's leaf canopy from feeding. Both leafhopper adults and
nymphs feed on leaves by puncturing the leaf cells and sucking out the contents. Feeding
damage appears as white spots or stripping and leaves that are heavily damaged lose their
green color. Adult leafhoppers also cause discomfort to pickers. |

What is HopperFinder?
Hopperfinder is a non-toxic 6"
wide U/V resistant yellow plastic film which attracts over wintering
leafhoppers (grape,
variegated and sharpshooter). It can be used to trap population migrating into vineyards or resident populations
spread throughout the field. Coated on both sides with a non-drying, water resistant
adhesive, it holds pests until they die. It is effective until covered with insects or
dust. |

When do I apply HopperFinder?
Hopperfinder should be applied at or just
prior to budbreak. Packaged on a spool containing 1500 feet it can be wrapped or stapled to
grape stakes or a holding device.
Migration Situation
To serve as a barrier apply one to two bands
per row on 6-8 rows along the edge of the field.
Resident Leafhopper Population
Apply one band on every second or third row,
depending upon population density. Attach Hopperfinder just below the head or cordon of
the vine.
