Assistant Agronomist / Inland Division

Western Farm Service is currently seeking a Assistant Agronomist to assist in implementing field studies on various crops throughout the Inland Northwest.  The field trials consist of pesticide evaluations, variety evaluations, fertility studies, irrigation efficiency studies.  Western Farm Service is a large supplier of Fertilizer and Pesticides and is a subsidiary of Agrium US, which is one of the major fertilizer manufacturers in North America.  The Inland Division of Western Farm Service is comprised of 25 retail branches, and is one of six divisions in the Western US. 

            The position currently being offered is based out of the division office in Spokane, WA.  It is a full time, salaried position, and a full benefit package is provided.  Salary is negotiable, but is generally considered to be entry level.  The job description and duties are as follows;

 

Ø Operation of equipment including; Pickup and trailers, small tractors, grain plot combine and software, forage harvesting equip, ATVs, etc.

Ø  Maintenance of field trials; spraying, weeding, soil testing, tissue testing.

Ø  Compilation of trial summaries

Ø  Preparation of seed (Weighing and treating) for various studies

Ø  Implementing certain studies with appropriate application equipment (eventually)

Ø  Data collection and harvest.

Ø  Maintenance of equipment.

Ø  Duties require overnight travel (as much as 4 nights a week, but generally 1) with expenses paid.

Ø  Seasonably long hours.

Ø  Provision of technical support to WFS field personnel.

Ø  Valid Driver's license and CDL w/ Hazardous Materials Endorsement Required (can be acquired post-hire)

Ø  Commercial Operator Pesticide Application License required (can be acquired post-hire)

A assistant agronomist with WFS must be self-motivated, and have the ability to absorb information without specific instruction.
